The Back Up Plan, the new Jennifer Lopez flick that released this weekend, was disappointing to say the least. It was not as good as I had expected it to be. The concept of the story was indeed interesting - a woman can't find a man but wants to have a baby so she takes matters into her hands and executes her back up plan - getting artificially inseminated. Then she meets a loving, caring, and attentive man and falls in love. Will this man accept her now that she is pregnant? Most men in real life would run from such a situation so will JLo's leading man played by Alex O'Loughlin eventually run too? If you have seen enough romantic comedies, you can probably guess how the movie ends, keeping in mind that this is a movie and not real life.
Except for Alex O'Loughlin's good looks, Jennifer Lopez's decent acting skills (better than her singing skills), and a few good laughs, this predictable film does not have much to offer. The entire story is pretty much told in the trailer below - whatever is missing is not worth wasting $11 on. So if you really want to watch it, wait for the DVD to come out. Even if you don't watch it, you are not missing much. Sorry to disappoint all the chick-flick lovers out there but consider yourself warned!
